If 4 radios are selected for display, what is the probability that 2 of them are defective?

Posted by admin on February 27th, 2010 and filed under radios | 1 Comment »

A dept. store recieves shipment of 23 new radios. There are 5 defective in the shipment. If 4 radios are selected for display, what is the probability that 2 of them are defective?

The number of ways to select the two defective is:
5C2 = 5! / (2!3!)

The number of ways to select the two non-defective is:
18C2 = 18! / (2!16!).

The total number of ways to select 4 radios out of 23 is:
23C4 = 23! / (4!19!)

Multiply and divide to get the probability:
= (5C2)(18C2) / (23C4)
= (10)(153) / (8855)
= 306 / 1771 = .17278373800113

The answer is approximately .17278 or 17.3%

How do I start an underground radio station?

Posted by admin on February 27th, 2010 and filed under radio station | 3 Comments »

I am interested in starting an underground radio station online. I need to know how to go about doing this.

You need to go about getting liscenced by the major record labels (which can be quite expensive, as I am currently going thru this), or use a site like live365 (last source cited) which offers a bundle pack that does it automatically.

It really depends on your budget and level of internet expertise. You can do it pretty cheap, though.

If I were to start my own internet radio station without the intent of profit, do I need to pay royalty?

Posted by admin on February 27th, 2010 and filed under internet radio | 4 Comments »

I’m thinking of starting an internet radio station; just a personal one and I won’t making money with it. I’ve searched and all I see are laws on profit-making stations and non-profit organizations, still run by some company/school. If an individual like me were to do it, is there any royalty payment needed?

Yes Most Definitely You Would.

Why are certain FM radio stations not coming in on my sony stereo?

Posted by admin on February 27th, 2010 and filed under radio stations | 1 Comment »

I have a problem with my sony mhc-gx250 stereo where for some reason stations 99.5 thru 100.5 will not work. They are not staticky, but rather completely silenced. It is not a problem with the positioning of the antenna or distance from the radio station. Has anyone heard of this problem, and Does anyone know what would fix this?

If everything else works, as it apparently does, it just means you are not able to pick up a signal for a station within those frequency parameters, or no one in you area is even broadcasting between 99.5 and 100.5.
