How do musicians make music via radio airplay?

Posted by admin on May 30th, 2010 and filed under radio music | 1 Comment »

I’ve always wondered how exactly music is regulated via radio. Do the radio stations pay the artist per every time they play their song? Or do they buy a song at a bulk purchase and can play the songs as many times as they want?

I’ve wondered if there were any radio stations that indulge in some form of piracy.

They buy a blanket license from the 3 major "performance rights" agencies,
ASCAP, BMI, and SESAC. Cost is usually based on revenue and/or market size.
Non-broadcast forms of radio must also pay SoundExchange.

Have you checked msconfig or your services to see if you have something loading from there? Start>run msconfig (check the startup tab, also the servicestab (hide all microsoft services) If you find it (un-check it) you can also try Start>run sysedit and see if there is a line in your autoexec.bat or config.sys file.

What radio station can I catch the Quad Cities River Bandits games on?

Posted by admin on May 7th, 2010 and filed under radio station | 5 Comments »

I love watching the Quad Cities Riiver Bandits play. But, when they’re not on TV, I don’t know what radio station broadcasts them. Can anyone tell me, so I can listen to the games, when they’re not on TV?

Home broadcasts of River Bandits games are not on the radio for the 2010 season. However you can listen to some Midwest League teams’ away team’s broadcasts when they are playing Quad Cities. They include South Bend, West Michigan, Fort Wayne, Burlington, Kane County and Dayton. Go to MiLB.com to see when those clubs play Quad Cities and what their local radio stations are.

Ok so for a club at school we want to start an online radio station, there won’t be music just talk show sort of thing so I don’t think we’ll have to deal with royalties. If anyone can give me the basics on starting one?

Otherwise:

It looks like alot of information is there, and I saw something on the search about $99.95 for the FCC license. And it said that it begins there.

Good luck to you guys.
