How much do radio stations pay to play professional recording artists music on air?

Posted by admin on March 9th, 2010 and filed under radio stations | 1 Comment »

How much do radio stations pay per song they play?? How do they get permission to play different songs??

Most commercial stations have music locenses from ASCAP, BMI and SESAC, allowing them to play pretty much all available music.

This money goes to the writers, not the artist. The performance royalty is a battle in progress now.

The amount paid to the above licensing organizations varies as it is determined by a number of factors. These may include market size, station revenue, and other factors.

How come Atlanta and Detroit have the same radio stations?

Posted by admin on March 5th, 2010 and filed under radio stations | 1 Comment »

Well I’m from Ann Arbor, Michigan and the radio stations up there are from Detroit and the main ones are like 95.5 and 97.9 and they have the exact same stations in ATL with the same genres so wats up with that lol.

They just have the same station numbers. Now, they could possibly be the same station, like Ryan Seacrest and Delilah are played nationwide, but they pre record station numbers and areas so it ONLY sounds like your city it is being recognized by them…

Does a HD radio make regular radio stations sound better?

Posted by admin on March 1st, 2010 and filed under radio stations | 2 Comments »

I have a 2003 Chevy Tahoe, with the stock radio system and the reception has always been horrible. So I think it’s time to upgrade, I don’t want a satellite radio. I just want a better radio that will get better reception, because I just want to listen to my favorite radio stations, not a satellite XM or sirius station. So does a HD radio get really good reception of regular stations? Also it may be helpful to know I live in the Denver area.

It just depends on the radio itself, it may have slightly better or worse reception. Just like any aftermarket radio. The HD component will have no effect on your regular channels – it will just grant you access to more.

Why are certain FM radio stations not coming in on my sony stereo?

Posted by admin on February 27th, 2010 and filed under radio stations | 1 Comment »

I have a problem with my sony mhc-gx250 stereo where for some reason stations 99.5 thru 100.5 will not work. They are not staticky, but rather completely silenced. It is not a problem with the positioning of the antenna or distance from the radio station. Has anyone heard of this problem, and Does anyone know what would fix this?

If everything else works, as it apparently does, it just means you are not able to pick up a signal for a station within those frequency parameters, or no one in you area is even broadcasting between 99.5 and 100.5.
