How can crystal radios work if the energy provided by radio waves isnt enough to overcome forward voltage drop?

If the energy provided from the radio waves in a crystal radio isnt enough to overcome the forward voltage drop of the diode being used, then how can a crystal radio even work?
Energy picked up by crystal radios is in the microwatt and nanowatt range, so how can the crystal radio work if the diode it used needs at least 0.3 volts to work? (Overcome forward voltage drop)

You use a very long antenna (+100 ft) to collect enough radio energy to allow operation.

I am working near a radio frequency welding machine, I already had one miscarraige. I am in the office working now. But my computer is affected everyday by the welding machines, as well as the phones. I am still around the machines at times.

I want to buy a quality radio scanner, and am looking for a scanner that can detect all legally allowable frequencies. Anyone know what all the legally allowable frequencies are and perhaps a radio scanner that can pick up all of them or close to all of them? An answer would be highly appreciated. Thanks!

you are allowed to listen to any frequency that the scanner can receive.

Scanners are required to hardware block cellular frequencies, so scaners do not and cannot be modified to, listen to cell freqs.

The rules still exist for listening to communications. The Communications Act of 1934 still exists. You may listen to anything, you may not utilize third party information, what you hear, stays with you.

There are exceptions, broadcast radio is exempt, hobby services are exempt, unlicensed services are exempt.

Why does my radio restart the moment I start my car?

My radio always restarts the moment I start my car..
Is that because my starter motor takes all power from my battery and leaves nothing behind for my radio?
My mom her car doesnt have this problem.

Is this an aftermarket radio? If so it most aftermarkets have a permanent power feed line on them. Someone may have installed it incorrectly.
If it’s factory, it’s possible that a connection is loose or the radio itself has a short. You may also want to replace the radio fuse in your car to see if that helps.

What is the difference between radio waves and TV waves?

Does the FM radio works similar to a TV? I mean the way it transmits signals. Do they have the same signals that they receive?

I am just a bit curious here. My Nokia 5310 XM has FM radio. I am just wondering If I can turn my cellphone into a TV by downloading some kind of java application that receives signals just like the built in FM radio.

TV waves are much more complex than radio waves,although they can use the same frequency. The entire FM radio band is actually located between TV channels 6 and 7! But it’s not possible to do what you suggest. As far as I know,cellphones that play video do so by decoding digital formats,like MPEG,from the Internet. However, technology is coming that will enable mobile TV reception since transmission went digital last year. Chrysler has a setup like this coming out in some of it’s minivans.
