Why All FM Radio Enabled Mobiles required to insert Earphone first, to listen Radio?

Posted by admin on February 25th, 2010 and filed under fm radio | 8 Comments »

All mobiles phone who has facility to tune to FM Radio ask for insert the earphone to start the Radio. Once you insert the earphone or headphone then you can put it in Loudspeaker mode, but as soon as you take out the pin out of phone it will stop the Radio? Why so?

the ear phone wire has a small box on it if u notice….it contains frequency receiver u may relate it to traditional antennas in radio sets
thats the reason u need to attach it

if it were inside the mobile handset it would provide as much clarity in reception of the voice signals

    It acts as an antenna.

The wires of the headphone or earphone act as the antenna for the FM radio. Without the headphone or earphone plugged in, the FM radio has no signal reception so there is no point in having it turned on so it shuts off automatically. The small box on the wires contains a microphone and has nothing at all to do with the FM radio.

all phones do not have in-built radio antenna or signal receiver.the headphones have 2 jobs .1)to act as an antenna for the radio.and 2)to act as a headphone. So even in loudspeaker u have to have the headphone attached to the phone.it stops the radio because it cannot receive any stations for itself’s in built radio.
