The guy is being too delicate with using the actual tone arm lift. QRK Russco or Mccurdy (for us here in canada) never had a tone arm lift. you lift the head shell and plunk it down. I use the edge of the TT platter to backcue. A TT like this should get you up to speed with a 1/4 turn, but 1/4 1/2 doesn’t really matter.
decent pressings of vinyl also matter. don’t backcue a polystrene 45. can we say “cueburn”?
Try carting a record dubbing a record to a cart. there’s a lost art!
