That said, water poisoning is VERY rare. You’d have to drink quite a lot, and especially if you sweat out a lot too. In the history of marathons in the US, only 5 runners have died of water intoxication. And how many millions have run?

You can die by drinking too much water too quickly. Some hikers have died because they drank too much water. They recommend to eat something salty to help the body deal with so much water. Hyper-hydration screws up your electrolyte levels which can be fatal.

No Sherlock, I KNOW she’s DEAD!! That’s part of my point in my last message! Had she have NOT taken part in the contest, odds are she’d still be alive for her hubby & kids. And the radio DJ’s…didn’t they sign indemnity statements, relieving them of any responsibility (such as injury, death, etc. to the contestants)? And docs were even calling in to the station before Jennifer took part in the thing, saying how dangerous it could be? Why belabor all this anyway; she’s dead, but it’s sad.
