Does a HD radio make regular radio stations sound better?

I have a 2003 Chevy Tahoe, with the stock radio system and the reception has always been horrible. So I think it’s time to upgrade, I don’t want a satellite radio. I just want a better radio that will get better reception, because I just want to listen to my favorite radio stations, not a satellite XM or sirius station. So does a HD radio get really good reception of regular stations? Also it may be helpful to know I live in the Denver area.

It just depends on the radio itself, it may have slightly better or worse reception. Just like any aftermarket radio. The HD component will have no effect on your regular channels – it will just grant you access to more.

Hey man, first of all. If you take a Blue Ray DVD player and hook it up to a tube tv your not gonna have HD tv right? This works about the same way even if you have a HD radio if you dont have good reception coming in your not gonna have good reception coming out. It make make it a LITTLE more clear but i’d guess not alot. The best way to get good reception is to get a boosted antenna (you can pick one up at advance or autozone for about $20) then consider an HD radio. Hope this helps bro
